After months of speculations of his political future, Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has finally endorsed ODM leader Raila Odinga for Presidency.
Having fallen out with Deputy President William Ruto, Rutto, a former Chepalungu MP, has been leading a rebellion in the DP’s Rift Valley backyard.
With his Chama Cha Mashinani keen to field aspirants in several political seats, Rutto says he is confident of delivering for opposition in South Rift.
“Your guess is as good as mine. I will support Odinga because of his track record,” said Rutto adding that he was impressed with Odinga’s spirit of defending devolved governance.
The outspoken governor added: “Jubilee has failed Kenyans. They have looted resources, sabotaged devolution and glorified tribalism. I do not want to be part of that.”
Despite working with independence party KANU in the past, Rutto said he was disappointed by Chairman Gideon Moi’s decision to back Uhuru Kenyatta reelection.
In his backyard, Mr. Rutto is facing a fierce competition from National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso and former Konoin MP Julius Kones, who though, have to face each other in Jubilee party nominations.
