Gideon Mbuvi alias Sonko insists that he will not be limited to Jubilee Party should they ‘stick’ to their preferred candidate for Nairobi Governorship.
The Nairobi senator, who seeks to unseat Evans Kidero of ODM, is facing a stiff challenge from within Jubilee following entry of former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth.
And on Thursday Sonko also dismissed decision by Jubilee disciplinary committee to fine his Sh6m following chaos that marred recently elections of Nairobi officials at the Bomas, who will oversee Jubilee Party nominations scheduled April 21.
“OCS said there was no chaos because their (Maina Kamanda) supporters were the ones who tried to block us,” he said during an interview with Radio Maisha.
The former Makadara MP added: “NASA is also a party just like Jubilee. If they stick with their preferred candidate I will explore options.”
While Sonko maintains he will deploy 300 youths per polling station to ‘guard’ his votes during primaries, he however maintains that he would not withdraw from the race regardless of the pressure.
With the opposition banking on Kidero as their sole candidate, Jubilee Party is in a dilemma over their candidate even as sources indicate that the party may settle on Kenneth over Sonko.
