The family of a 17-year-old girl who had been allegedly defiled by a boda boda operator in Mwala, Machakos County is pleading for justice.
The minor was reportedly defiled at Makiliva village two months ago.
The girl's mother on Monday told the press that they had filed a report at Mumbuni Police Station after she was treated at Mwala Level Four Hospital yet the perpetrator has not been arrested.
She said the suspect goes into hiding whenever the matter is brought up to the authorities only to resurface when dust settles.
The mother said they have been getting threats from the perpetrators family to let go of the case.
“We have been threatened. Since we are not well-up, we are told we can't win this case. I urge the police to smoke out the suspect and prosecute him," she said.
The form one student said the man waylaid and defiled her on her way to a nearby river where she was headed to fetch water during the incident.
Commenting on the issue, the area chief Mathew Muli asked parents not to cover up defilement cases and desist from being coerced to solve such cases at home.
