A defilement case failed to kick off at a Murang'a court on Thursday due to lack of DNA results.

The accused Laban Njogu a police constable allegedly defiled a 14-year-old girl in a cell at the Murang'a police station.

Njogu is said to have committed the act on September 30 while the minor was remanded at the police station.

Njogu's lawyer Julius Kirubi demanded DNA results be presented before the court before the hearing begins.

Solomon Njeru, a state counsel said the case should proceed with evidence from the minor but unfortunately the court objected his plea.

"The court adjourns the hearing of the matter until the DNA results are availed", ruled magistrate Margaret Wachira.
