The delay in the naming of Moi University Vice Chancellor has continued to raise eyebrows among different stakeholders in the education sector in the institution’s staff and students.
University Academic Staff Union (UASU) has called upon Acting Education CS Fred Matiang’i to speed the process of naming the new VC to ensure smooth operation at the institution.
The delay came after different parties raised concern over the marks which were awarded to the top candidates who participated in the interviews seeking to find a new head.
On his part, Education PS Kipsang Belio has assured the union that the matter will be addressed before the new VC is named.
Speaking to the press, UASU official Luke Abok asked Matiang’i fasten the issue.
“The university should have a substantive VC so we can move smoothly without anxiety over leadership of the university.”
During the interviews conducted by the university’ council, Isaac Kosgey emerged top.
The Laikipia University deputy vice-chancellor got 76 marks, while Ann Nagulu and acting VC Laban Ayiro came third with 70 marks each. The council was later accused of bias.
