Kisii county Deputy Governor Joash Maangi has said the delaying of public funds to the counties is a result of shortages of drugs in hospitals.
According to Maangi the acute shortage of drugs in public hospitals in the county has been due to delayed funds from the national government meant for the drugs.
“If the county Government gets the funds early the challenge of drugs shortages in our hospitals will be addressed,” he said.
“The national government is the one to blame on the lack of drugs in hospitals, However, we are forging a way forward to get drugs on credit from KEMSA to help our patients who are suffering in hospitals,” he added.
This comes after residents in Kisii County complained that there are no drugs in various hospitals as they are forced to use extra money in purchasing.
Now residents will wait to see whether the government will keep accusing the national Government after the National Government agreed to release funds in time.
Maangi was speaking with the press at Kisii sports club when he was articulating development and political issues.
