The ODM primaries in Taita Taveta county were hit by massive delays which made a large number of voters to walk away with suspicion.
Even though voters arrived at the poling stations as early as 6am, there were neither voting materials nor party clerks.
The delay was prolonged into the late morning and voting in most stations had to wait to as late as 11am.
According to Nominated MCA Valery Mwadime, the delays were chiefly a result of a poor transport network in the region.
Only one vehicle was availed to transport the materials in the county.
However, some voters showed concern when they discovered that their names were missing in the party register as well as the IEBC list even though they had registered.
“I registered as an ODM member and voter with the IEBC. I was shocked that my name was not on any list,” Joseph Mlati, a resident, said.
Earlier on Monday, the supporters of Governor John Mruttu supporters stormed the Mwatate CDF Hall from where clerks were undertaking training and disrupted the session.
Mruttu said that some party officials were working around the clock to rig in his rival Thomas Mwadgehu.
He raised concern that the delays could be part of a wider scheme to manupulate the ballot boxes to and from the polling centres.
