Kiambu County Senator Kimani Wamatangi has asked leaders from the county to deliver on the pledges they made to the electorate during their campaign period.
Speaking in Ruiru town on Saturday, Senator Wamatangi accused some leaders of abandoning the electorate immediately after they were elected.
He claimed that some leaders have never gone back to the people who elected them two years ago.
“Kiambu leaders and politicians should strive to deliver on the promises they made to the people,” said Wamatangi.
Senator Wamatangi further asked leaders to commit to service delivery noting that poverty remains high in most parts of the county.
He said that despite most government functions being devolved, many locals have no access to service delivery. Wamatangi called on the county government to put in place measures that will curb poverty in the county adding that the county has enough resources that should be used to benefit the people.
“Kiambu government should act and curb the rising poverty levels among residents,” added Wamatangi.
The Senator vowed to continue fighting for the rights and welfare of Kiambu residents. He said that he will not keep quite as some things go in the wrong direction in the county.
Wamatangi urged locals to take interest in activities taking place at the county and sub-county levels.
