Residents of Uasin Gishu County are an angry lot over poor roads in Kiplombe ward, Turbo constituency.
Speaking to the press, Rael Koech, a resident, accused Deputy President William Ruto of not keeping his promise of tarmacking roads in the region.
“The deputy president and his government promised us that some money had been allocated to ensure that the roads are tarmacked before August 2015,” she said.
“We want to assure the deputy president that if he doesn’t deliver his promise then let him not expect that the current government will get our votes.”
She said they have undergone a lot of problems due to the poor roads in Kiplombe.
Some of the issues are that the sick cannot access the medical services in time especially the women who want to deliver may get complications due to delays, and they could be at a risk of losing their lives.
“Our farm produce cannot reach the market in time because of impassable roads,” said Jackson Sang, another resident of Kiplombe.
They said they depend on farming to sustain their livelihoods yet they are counting loses due to the impassable roads.
They accused Ruto of being biased and tarmacking his residential place and sidelining other areas.
“Pesa imetengwa hadi tumetengwa,” said Hellen Keino.
She said the government had forgotten them and the challenges have not been addressed.
