Okanya Primary School in Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma, is asking religious leaders to “cleanse” the school with prayers.
This is after the school said demons have attacked the learners.
Head teacher Eliud Walekwa told journalists on Thursday that the spirits have been victimising pupils in classrooms as well as in the the school compound.
Reportedly, some pupils have been seen fainting as others make strange cries.
The pupils and teachers of the 700-pupil school now say they are scared of the problem that began in term one.
“The problem was first discovered in first term, when standard three pupils, most of them girls, started fainting. The teachers thought it was normal, but it persisted,” Walekwa said.
“We even thought the students were fainting for lack of fresh air, because there are 130 pupils in that class. But we noticed strange things whenever they faint as they would act strangely.” He said they started conducting prayers," he said.
When prayed for, Walekwa said, some students become incoherent as though they are possessed by evil spirits.
“We are now scared and we don’t know what to do. We were planning to have a special prayer day to exorcise the evil spirits, because these occurrences might affect the school’s performance,” Walekwa said.
