Nakuru residents on Thursday demonstrated demanding Governor KInuthia Mbugua sacks county secretary Joseph Motari.
This is after a report that was submitted by an ad hoc committee two weeks ago recommended Motari be fired.
Speaking during the peaceful demonstrations in the streets of Nakuru, irate residents expressed their fury over reluctance to sack the officials.
The protests kicked off at Railways grounds towards Kenyatta Avenue as they headed to Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s offices where they presented their grievances chanting anti-Motari slogans.
Led by Hawkers chairman Simon Sangare Ole Nasieku, the protesters presented their grievances to the Nakuru county vice secretary George Kioko.
“The governor should implement the findings and recommendations of the ad hoc committee forthwith. The county government should expedite the process and rid the county of the people who are tainting its image. Those that were indicted in the report should be held responsible. We will hold protests every week until action is taken. We will meet here next Wednesday if n o action is taken,” Nasieku said.
They also presented their petition to Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama who was present to push for action following alleged massive mismanagement of public funds amounting to Sh261 million.
Their move comes barely two days after the court issued an injunction to the county boss against sacking the officials till their case is heard and determined. Caption:
