Ulla Tornaes, Denmark's minister of Development and Corporation has said that the country will channel 150 million shillings to curb the effects of drought in Kenya.
"It is 150 million shillings that we will transfer from our long term development corporation to Kenya," she said.
She added that the money will facilitate a quick and immediate response to the impending drought crisis therefore helping millions of people across the country.
Abbas Gullet had earlier said that the country should expect an abnormal rainfall this year and that the expected rain will not sustain the population.
He therefore said that the assistance was much needed and has called for a national preparedness so as to ensure that everyone will be catered for during this dry period.
The drought that was declared a national disaster has already led to the death of people across arid and semi arid areas with others going for days without food and water.
Areas like Turkana have particularly been hit hard and their livestock have died as a result. This is a cause for alarm since their livestock is their major if not their only source of livelihood.
Eugene Wamalwa CS water said that the money will facilitate proper water tracking. He also said that it would be used to bring immediate relief to the affected areas.
