State House Director of Digital Communications Dennis Itumbi has been awarded Sh5 million by the High Court.

The money is for compensation for illegal arrest and detention by police in 2012.

Itumbi had sued the Government over his arrest and detention without trial.

Itumbi had been accused of hacking  the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) prosecution office email in 2012.

His case was against the Attorney General Githu Muigai, Director of Public Prosecution Keriako Tobiko and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett.

Itumbi had earlier sought Sh50 million as damages for the violation of his constitutional rights.

He also wanted the court to protect him from any further arrest and prosecution in relation to the issues.
