Kenyan journalist cum strategist and blogger, Dennis Itumbi, on Monday responded to Boniface Mwangi's tweet that was aimed at President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president William Ruto in relation to the country's poor healthcare.
"President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are always giving out millions in harambees (fundraisers). You Itumbi should whatsApp them this video and tell them to donate too. It's them who are responsible for the healthcare mess in Kenya today. It's their job to fix it," said Mr. Mwangi through his tweet.
The human rights activist was reacting to a suffering Kenyan journalist, Dennis Omondi, who is currently stranded in an Indian hospital without any treatment.
Omondi needs 6.5 million to undergo bone marrow transplant and had sent a videotape in which he recorded himself pleading for help to help him raise the medical fees.
However, this did not go well with Itumbi who told Boniface Mwangi that the noise from the stand will not stop Kenyans from contributing to Mr. Omondi's medical bill to help him get treatment.
"Normally I would ignore you. like I do many times. But on this one, I will respond. Yes, it is the work of government to fix healthcare and Uhuru and Ruto know exactly that. That is why UHC is part of the big four.
"Boniface Mwangi, is, like Paul, our eyes are firmly fixed on the finishing line (To get Omondi treated) as his brothers and sisters, the noise from the stand, whether jeering or cheering will not stop us until we finish the race," said Mr. Itumbi through his twitter post.
