Two MPs from Nyanza now want Kenya Defence Force officers deployed at Migingo island.
Parliament Deputy Minority Leader Jakoyo Midiwo (Gem, ODM) and Nyatike's Omondi Anyanga told Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo to send troops to the island.
The two claimed Migingo belongs to Kenya and that it was wrong for Uganda to set a police base there.
The MPs spoke as Kenyans, three days ago, woke up to reports that an Administration Police officer attached to the Border Patrol Unit in Migingo had been detained by Uganda policemen.
Earlier on, it was also reported that IEBC officials sent to Migingo to register new voters had been arrested.
Mr Midiwo and Mr Anyanga who spoke to the press at Parliament buildings criticised Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery of "fighting" elected leaders instead of safeguarding the country's borders.
On March 10 at a press conference in Parliament, ODM MPs led by Ugunja's Opiyo Wandayi asked for the deployment of KDF officers in the island.
The MPs claimed the island belongs to Kenya.
