The senator on Thursday said government has the machinery to stop the clashes that have so far claimed four lives and led to torching of several houses.

Nyong’o asked the government to immediately start investigations and ensure that culprits fueling the clashes are dealt with according to the law.

The Kisumu senator accused government of failing to come up with solutions to the conflict.

“This is the third or fourth time such clashes are being experienced and it’s now time for the government to come up with lasting solutions,” said the senator on Thursday.

Nyong’o called for deployment of more police officers to the area to quell the clashes and guarantee peace.

On Wednesday, National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chairman Francis Ole Kaparo who visited the area received a resistant reception.

Kaparo who was scheduled to address locals and leaders in the area was forced to cut short his trip after locals became rowdy.

The locals are accusing leaders of failing to end the clashes that have been experienced several times in the area.

Reports indicate that four people have been killed since the clashes erupted again on Tuesday with several houses being torched and families displaced.
