Kikuyu Deputy County commissioner Elias Kithaura has warned criminal gangs purportedly operating and causing problems in the area.
Speaking to journalist at his office in Kikuyu town on Thursday, the commissioner said that strict measures have been put in place to deal with criminals.
He added that police have received information on groups allegedly involved in a spate of crimes in the town and its environs.
“We want to warn criminals that we are going to fight them to the end, our officers have enough machinery to unearth these criminals and we will do everything to arrest them,” said Kithaura.
He said that security will be intensified on 24-hour patrols in the town in a bid to curb the rampant criminals.
The deputy commissioner also said that the county government with the collaboration of the national government has put in place security measures to protect the interests of Kenyans and business investors.
He stated that the police will not tolerate any form of intolerance, adding that locals have a big role to play in the fight against crime.
Kithaura called on young people in the area to stop indulging in criminal activities saying the law will not spare them.
He observed that some criminal gangs are using teenagers to engage in crime. He asked parents and guardians to ensure their children do not engage in crime, especially this holiday season.
“Parents should take their parental roles to ensure safety of their children especially this time they are not in school,” added Kithaura.
