Kiambu Deputy County Commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru has called for the closure of strip clubs in the town and issued a stern warning to owners operating the businesses.
“These strip clubs have been increasing by the day and if not stopped, our youth while ruin their lives through immorality and drug abuse,” he said.
The commissioner warned bar owners who promote stripping in their businesses in order to boost sales that their days were numbered and would soon face the full wrath of the law.
“Those found in these joints will also be arrested and charged along with the owners of the clubs for promoting immorality,” he said.
While supporting the move, Thika West OCPD Shadrack Maithya said that law enforcement officers will remain vigilant and conduct raids on such clubs especially during the festive season.
“Those businesses found to be operating strippers will be slapped with a fine of Sh500,000 and have their licences revoked,” Maithya said.
The two were speaking on Friday in Thika town during the Kiambu Alcohol Regulation Board meeting.
