Kisii Deputy Commissioner Philip Soi has warned Kenyans against abetting corruption in the public sector.
Soi lamented that despite corruption being a serious vice in the country, Kenyans abet it through canvassing for favours from state officers while seeking services in the public sector.
Speaking on Thursday morning outside the County Executive offices during the launch of Anti-Corruption Outreach Campaign week spearheaded by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Soi called for attitude change if the war on corruption is to be won.
Soi said corruption starts with an individual before it spreads to the wider society and thus challenged the public to stop the culture of bribes even on issues which do not need favours to be done.
"If we corrupt systems and institutions because we have a few coins, then what will happen to those of us who do not have even a penny to bribe in order to access the services or favours from public officers? posed Soi.
He reiterated the county and national governments public officers' commitment to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's fight against corruption to assure Kenyans of a corruption-free public service sector.
