The Deputy County Commissioner for Masinga Sub-County John Odengo has taken the ban on sand harvesting to another level by deploying security personnel.
Odengo on Thursday stated that several areas in the Sub-County had been most notorious for sand harvesting even after endless warnings.
"Am not ready to collect dead people here and before that happens I have totally banned sand harvesting here in Inyanzaa River and have come with security officers," said Odengo.
Odengo further warned the young men in the area against engaging in fighting for sand.
"We should all respect our environment so that we benefit from it. From today even though sand is discovered on a private land and it becomes a threat to us we will camp at the premises and stop any harvesting," he declared Present during the event in Inyanzaa River which borders Kangonde.
