Deputy county commissioner Geoffrey Omoding has called upon landlords in Mlolongo to exercise responsible waste management practices in a bid to fight cholera in the region.

Moding said that landlords who have no place to dump their wastes are greatly contributing towards the spread of the disease in the area. He also reminded the landlords not to ignore cholera outbreak alert. He spoke to the Star at his office on Thursday.

“Landlords should take seriously the sanitation issue. The threat of cholera is real in Athi River sub county,” he said.

He also said that the outbreak of the disease has been reported in different parts of the county, adding that residents need to be vigilant to protect themselves and their families from the dread health complication.

He further called upon Mavoko Water and Sewerage Company to take sanitation issues seriously for the sake of residents of this part of the nation.

“I am calling upon all the sanitation players, including public health department, landlords, schools, Machakos government, Mavoko Water and Sewerage Company and residents to take the cases and sanitation issues seriously,” he added.
