Githinji, who was speaking in Thika town during a campaign to end the brews on Monday evening, said there is need to eliminate some 'ill-cultural practices'.

He added that the illicit liquors have in the recent days caused deaths and other dangers among the residents and it is shocking that many people are yet to learn a lesson from the past experiences.

The deputy governor urged residents in the affected area to join hands and fight the liquors, saying the county needs responsible people.

“Let’s get to together and fight this challenge as it is affecting the society. We need to be responsible in our family matters,” Githinji said.

He said men are the most affected and they need to overlook their drinking habits to ensure they perform their roles in a better way.

Githinji further called on the police to engage the daily drinkers who are fond of drinking at all times and thus fail to take their family responsibility.
