Deputy governor Joseph Ruto Tuesday made the revelation saying angry hawkers who were allegedly protesting over their earlier eviction from the town's CBD were behind Mbugua's humiliation.

"I don't really think any politician was behind the heckling of the governor. We, however, suspect a section of disgruntled hawkers to be behind it," he told Radio Citizen.

Ruto added that unlike the common perception that they chased away hawkers from the central business district, they only relocated them to improve business in the town.

Mbugua found himself on the receiving end two weeks ago in Nakuru town when residents heckled him in the presence of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

The county boss had earlier blamed his political rivals for organising that unfortunate predicament that befell him.
