Amos Nyaribo, has yet again dismissed claims that he overstepped the mandate of Nyamira County boss John Nyagarama as succession battle took a new dimension on Friday.
Nyagarama, 74, flew out of the country on Friday and he is said to be undergoing medication in a US hospital.
And on Saturday, Nyaribo distanced himself from the claims that he had forged the governor's signature to send County Secretary Eric Onchana packing.
"This was a unanimous decision between the two of us. i have not assumed such critical powrrs of the governor.
"Those peddling rumours only want to soil my reputation. I am a professional and whatever was done was within the law," he said.
A close study of the signature in the letter dismissing the county secretary shows that the signature may have not originated from the governor.
Before jetting out of the country, the county boss handed over to his deputy but limited his powers in compliance to article 179(5).
