Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno has urged students to pursue agricultural saying it’s the remedy to joblessness among the youths. He said such courses have untapped potential and ready job market compared to business courses which most students prefer.“I want to urge youths from the region to pursue agricultural courses since it is among the best well-paying self-employment jobs compared to white collar jobs. Let us refrain from the norm that farming is only meant for the old but instead embrace it since it has more good than harm,” he said in Eldoret town, Wednesday.“As a government, we encourage youths to practice farming that why we came with the programme ‘Kijana na acre’ where we give loans to youths to practice farming. With a small plot and small capital, one can transform his life from a nobody to a multi-millionaire through the rearing of poultry, fish farming and planting of fast-growing food that will fetch income,” he added.

He also urged youths to be innovative by being job creators and not a seeker.“Let us not always ask the government what it has done for us but instead what we have done to the government,” noted Chemno.
