In a congratulatory speech addressed to Elimu Academy during the schools’ prize giving day, Maangi said the private institutions have promoted education standards to greater heights.

“As much as we need to promote our public schools, we need to recognize and appreciate the role played by private schools in the deliver of education services in our county and nation at large,” read the statement.

He also promised that the resolutions arrived at during the county's 2014 stakeholders' conference would be implemented to the letter.

While asking parents and teachers to create a conducive environment for pupils to learn while at home and at school, he also took time to warn the pupils against engaging in irresponsible behaviour, saying it could lead to what he termed as ‘irreversible consequences’.

The deputy governor also took time to congratulate the school for its county-topping results, and pledged to assist it in whatever capacity he could as a leader, parent and lover of education.

Elimu Academy achieved an excellent score of 388.28 in the 2014 KCPE results, with 38 of its 45 candidates being admitted to national schools.

Also present at the occasion were other high-ranking county officials including Stella Omache, the county minister of health, the education minister John Omwoyo, the County Public Service Minister David Kombo, among others.
