Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi has hosted Nyanza region leaders of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) in his office.
The officials of the organisation were going about their work in Kisii town, the leading economic powerhouse in the former Nyanza region, when they decided to ‘call on’ the deputy county leader, Maangi said after the meeting.
CPAK is the professional organisation that regulates the activities of all certified public accountants in Kenya.
The authority was established in 1978 by the Accountants Act CAP 531.
“The organisation has dedicated itself to ensure capacity building, to improve public finance and asset management for our county government,” Maangi said.
The rise of Kisii town as the economic engine has in the recent past made Central Bank of Kenya to move its regional branch to Kisii. The interest of the accountants in the town is thus seen as trying to strategically place themselves where the money is.
