The order, from Busia Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa followed complaints from traders that some people who masquerade as revenue officers collect money from them at odd hours.

Addressing the traders in Matayos when he made a tour of the market on Thursday, Wangalwa said only genuine revenue officers are mandated to collect revenue during day time and not during odd hours.

"We will agree as a County Government on specific days of tax collection instead of having the exercise on a daily basis," he said.

The DG also assured the traders that the County Government will construct an urban toilet at the market.

"We shall also ensure proper fencing of the market and undertake proper planning and installation of mass lights to enable you operate late into the night," he said.

Traders had complained of the existence of an illegal group which they claimed was terrorizing them.

They appealed to the Deputy Governor to have the matter sorted out.

Wangalwa said the County Government recognizes only the genuine officials who were elected by the traders themselves.
