The national government has been asked to consider allocating funds that will facilitate compensation for the integrated internally displaced persons in Uasin Gishu.

Deputy governor Daniel Chemno says there are many people who were affected during the 2007/08 post-election skirmishes in the county that are yet to be compensated by the government.

Speaking in Eldoret, the deputy governor asked the office of county commissioner to put in place that will see all integrated IDPs compensated.

"We are glad the government took care of the IDPs but there's a group that was left out which is the integrated IDPs," Chemno said.

"Fresh vetting should be done to all the integrated IDPs so that we bring the matter to an end once and for all," he added.

Chemno reaffirmed Uasin Gishu county government's commitment to working with the national government over the matter.

He, however, warned the public over unscrupulous persons out to take advantage of the integrated IDPs issue for their personal monetary gains.
