A deputy headmaster in Gatundu North has been charged with defiling a nine-year-old pupil.

Nicholas Mwiti allegedly committed the offence on Friday, June 9 at Wamine Academy in Gatundu North sub-county.

Prosecutor Marriane Keittany told a Thika court on Monday that Mwiti defiled the pupil in his office and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the matter.

When reaching home, the girl told her mother, after which they went to St. Francis Mang'u AP post to report the matter after which the minor was taken to Thika Level 5 Hospital for treatment.

The matter was later reported at Mwea Police Post leading to Mwiti's arrest. However, the suspect denied the accusation and was released on a Sh200,000 bond.

The case will be brought forward on June 26 after which the magistrate is expected to make a ruling on July 31.
