Uasin Gishu Deputy Speaker Hosea Lamai has called for more police surveillance to curb rising crime in some parts of the county.
Addressing residents at Huruma estate in Eldoret Town on Thursday, Lamai asked the police to intensify their patrols and deal with criminals and other law breakers.
The Uasin Gishu deputy speaker said that police are entrusted with the responsibility of protecting citizens from criminal gangs and other harmful acts.
He said that some estates in Eldoret Town have been experiencing crime adding that police must improve on their surveillance.
“The law enforcers should move with speed and apprehend criminals and outlawed groups causing havoc in some estates in this town,” he said.
Lemoi said that security of citizens must be the number one responsibility of the government.
He called for more sensitisation on Nyumba Kumi security initiative stating that it could help curb crime.
He also urged residents to support the police in dealing with crime.
Lamai noted that police officers need support in order for them to crack the whip on criminals and outlawed groups.
The deputy speaker also called for implementation of proper policies and laws that will aid in the fight against crime.
