Dr Charles Kilonzo an aspirant for Matungulu parliamentary seat speaking on Wednesday in Tala said that most of the dams in the sub-county were dug in the colonial era and by now they are full of silt that is carried by rain water into the dams.

"If the county government would result these dams ahead of the rains, we would be sure that the residents would benefit a lot because the dams will be capable of holding more water," noted Kilonzo.

Nonetheless, Kilonzo urged the county government to ensure it has repaired the damaged boreholes in Kyaume and Sengani areas so that the schools and residents in the area get water.

Residents of Kyaume, Sengani Marine and Koma areas in the sub-county have been experiencing water shortage where well wishers are forced to chip in and distribute water to them.
