The independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC on Tuesday released the official number of registered voters for the August 8, polls in Nairobi.
According to IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, the total number of eligible voters rose from over 14 million in 2013 to 19,611,423 milllion which represents a 36 percent increase in new voters.
It is also important to note that, a total of over 9 million youths are registered in this year's voters list, while Nairobi and Kiambu account for the largest number of registered voters across the 47 counties with a whopping 17.4 percent of the grand total.

In the latest update at least 4,393 voters in the diaspora are eligible for the polls whereas 5,528 will vote in prison with 88,602 expunged from the register as dead voters.
