A tiny Island of Migingo in Lake Victoria can be solely attributed to the rocky relationship between Kampala and Nairobi, reports the Daily Nation.

Located in the deep waters of the largest lake, occupants of the Island depend on fish, the reason behind nightmare between Kenya and Ugandan nationals.

Trouble started in 2010 when Kenyan fishermen were allegedly apprehended by Ugandan security leading to magnification of the border row.

Nothing substantive has been achieved using diplomacy between the two sides and Kenyan fishermen have often complained of alleged harassment.

“Even an unborn child knows Migingo is in Kenya. There no doubt about it and we have sent security forces,” confirmed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he toured Mbita last week.

“We cannot be threatened on what we rightfully own. Mutual respect is essential,” he added when responding to outcry from members of the public.

Also closely associated with the diminishing relationship of Uhuru and his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni is construction of oil pipeline from Mombasa which Uganda had agreed to partner with Kenya.

But in a sudden change of events, Ugandan authorities cancelled the plans and instead partnered with Tanzania leading cold relationship between the two nations.
