The Ministry of Health procured 100 portable clinical containers through a tender awarded to Estama Limited, one of the companies in the middle of the multi-billion Afya House scandal at a cost of Sh10 million each.

Measuring 40 feet each, the containers are fully furnished to cater for outpatient medical services. They are also praised of being vital and fully kitted to improve child and maternal care.

The controversial containers are believed to be have a consultation room with the doctor's executive and the patients' chairs, bed and a portable toilet.

They are said to have a computer, an air conditioner, weighing machine, a sink, and microscopes.

The containers are believed to be designed to house visitors at the waiting bay and were revealed following revelations of the alleged Sh5.3 billion Afya House scam.

They are currently stored at the Miritini NYS yard in Mombasa, awaiting transportation to various slum areas.
