He had been dispatched on a mission by the brutal terrorist organisation, Al Shabaab, on an intelligence gathering mission that would help the group carry out an attack on the Mandera Prison.Abdirahman Abdi Takow was captured by officers manning the facility as he tried to gain access to the prison.It would later emerge after meticulous interrogations that he was an Al Shabaab spy and Takow's intelligence-gathering effort was a prelude to a terrorist attack.A thirty-years sentence was handed by the judge who heard the case on Wednesday.It has emerged that he had commuted from Somalia's capital to Mandera three days before he was arrested.An officer, Osman Mursal, was on the watchtower when he saw the 22-year old terrorist struggling to gain access to the facility through a small opening.It was then that he alerted his fellow officers who pounced on the Al Shabaab spy.The officer who saw him testified in court.
