Ann Waiguru, who was thrust to the public limelight during her heydays at the Devolution Ministry, is a superb character that attracts friends and foe in equal measure.
Waiguru, who rarely misses out of tv cut-aways due to her cute and young looks is described by friends as a very hardworking and strict person.
She once harangued at the Devolution offices over simple grammatical errors in office memos.
A former college mate at Egerton University remembers Waiguru as a very ‘young, cute and energetic campus girl’. Hardworking and no-nonsense, she adds.
“I still remember how she looked. To be a bit cheeky, she was the kind of campus chick every Apha male in campus secretly wants to lay,” the former Egerton University student said.
Waiguru’s former comrade says the ‘young Waiguru had an urbane swag and polishing’.
This might be because she had been brought up in Nairobi’s Eastlands where she went to Nairobi River Primary School in Buruburu.
She then joined Precious Blood Secondary School, Riruta, and Moi Forces Academy for her A-Levels before joining Egerton University, Nakuru, for her Bachelors degree.
“She was in a group of beauties; I think from Precious Blood, they were calling her Haney. It was an exclusive club for those who were blessed with looks, brains and well-up backgrounds,” our source said amid chuckles.
Waiguru graduated with a Bachelors degree in Agriculture and Home Economics.
