Deputy President William Ruto held talks with the Steering Committee of the devolution conference, Karen, Nairobi, ahead of the 5th Devolution Conference slated for April 23rd-27th at the Kakamega High School.
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru who is the vice chairperson of the Council of Governors (CoG), led several leaders in meeting the DP.
"We restate our commitment to strengthen partnership between national and county governments and anticipate the upcoming devolution conference will be an opportunity to deepen cooperation and coordination that will result in the realisation of the Big Four," Ruto said on Thursday.
Members of the Devolution Conference multi-agency Steering Committee led by Waiguru also called on Speaker of the Senate, Kenneth Lusaka.
Waiguru, who is Co-Chair of the Steering Committee, briefed Speaker Lusaka on the preparedness of the 5th Annual Devolution Conference.
“There is a lot of improvement on matters inclusivity in the planning of this conference. I am particularly pleased to note that the programme caters adequately for all players of the devolution fraternity – Senate, National Assembly, Governors, Ministry of Devolution and the County Assemblies Forum (CAF),” said the Speaker.
Waiguru noted that it was CoG’s intention from the onset to have this year’s conference planning and execution “very inclusive.”
“We decided to do it differently this time. We want a complete partnership from both the National and County Governments. Pulling together will work for us and for the country at large,” Waiguru told the members.
