[Photo|DPPS]The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has organised for a meeting with the two main stakeholders in the October 17 fresh presidential election.Through its Twitter account, the Wafula Chebukati-led agency would meet with presidential candidates Raila Odinga (NASA) and President Uhuru Kenyatta (Jubilee) next week, for deliberations d updates ahead of the poll."The Commission has reached out to both NASA and Jubilee for a joint meeting next week on poll preparations to update and address concerns," IEBC tweeted, Friday.Earlier Thursday, the Commission rescheduled a meeting with Nasa. The alliance however lamented that it was not aware of a scheduled meeting with IEBC, and that it did not, in any case, intend to hold any casual meetings with the IEBC as currently constituted."We have made the considered decision that henceforth, we will only engage the Commission through an open and structured national stakeholder dialogue in which binding resolutions will be made and shared with the public," said Nasa presidential campaign manager, Musalia Mudavadi. When they visited the Commission early this week, Nasa said, they were bombarded with a document titled "Status update on the Commission’s Preparedness for the Fresh Presidential Elections" which they had never been informed about. "The document opens with reference to the Supreme Court’s annulment of the presidential election on August 8, and the attendant orders for a fresh election."Addressing the press at the Okoa Kenya Offices, Mudavadi said the document however conveniently failed to acknowledge that the court found the Commission culpable for “illegalities and irregularities” in the elections. "That is dishonesty and a clear indication that the IEBC is living in denial. No more boardroom meetings with IEBC," declared Mudavadi, flanked by fellow Nasa leaders.
