Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has urged the national government to intervene and help raise education standards in Nyali constituency and the larger Coast region.

In a meeting with DP Ruto on Wednesday, the MP said that education standards in Coast region need urgent uplift.

The former investigative reporter said that students are dropping out of school as a result of high  poverty levels and drug abuse.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Ali said that his meeting with DP Ruto also discussed issues of healthcare.

He said that there is need for the government to ensure locals have access to quality health services.

The former journalist also said that they discussed  on issues of high unemployment urging the government to create jobs for young people in order to curb  high cases of drug abuse.

“I met with DP and he pledged to support my agenda of service to the people. I equally promised him my unequal support in backing Governments Big Four agenda and the government efforts for a united Kenya,” the Nyali MP said in a post on his Facebook page, Wednesday.

Ali is among politician's who are now calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga to expedite on their unity and reconciliation push.

On Sunday, Ali said that he is ready to reconcile with Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and other his political nemeses.

The former investigative reporter and Governor Joho have not been seeing eye to eye politically.
