A team of envoys on Monday paid a courtesy call on Governor Anyang' Nyong'o at his office.

The delegation comprised of ambassadors; His excellency Victor Renneberg, David Jurdan from Sweden, Mette Knudesen from Denmark, Anna Jardfelf from Finland, Pernile Brix and Ramses Malaty from Norway.

During the meeting, several issues were discussed, including; conflict prevention and resolution, role of devolution in development,the rate of youth unemployment and remedies to this tragedy, health, water and education.

The Governor welcomed this initiative by the envoys as he shared with them his agenda for Kisumu, and some of the challenges currently being faced by his administration.

On floods, the Governor said that the County government has been on the move to address this menace, adding that his administration had plans to eradicate flooding by the construction of Soin-Koru dam, which will serve as a long term solution to flooding in Nyando, Nyakach, and Kisumu East Sub counties. 

Prof Nyong'o, however, noted that the inheritance of the current budget is a stumbling block to him working on his manifesto, but he is very optimistic on working on it in the upcoming budget of 2018/19.

On health, Governor Nyong'o talked about the Universal Health Care in which Kisumu has been selected as one of the pilot counties, improvement on vaccination campaigns which serve as a prevention to many diseases, remuneration of volunteering health workers (Nyamrerwa) among other initiatives.

On youth employment, Nyong'o acknowledged arts, sports and culture as one of the biggest employment fields in Kisumu adding that it should be empowered. 

He proposed the need for more technical and vocational training centres to help curb the increasing unemployment crisis.

Present in the meeting was Achie Alai CeC Tourism, Doris Ombara City Manager, George Omondi Senior Governor's Advisor on Economic Planning, and Ruth Odinga Governor's Senior Advisor on Special Programs.
