Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho alongside his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi, held an emergency consultative meeting with National government officials led by Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation, Simon Chelugui and his Devolution counterpart Eugen Wamalwa.
They held in depth discussions on the extensive damage caused by floods due to the recent heavy rains on the Baricho Water Plant.
Joho indicated that collaborative efforts by the County Governments of Mombasa and Kilifi, the National Government and the Coast water services have seen all three pumps revived and running.
"We are also mobilizing resources for the repairs and restoration of the remaining wells to ensure operations at the station resume as soon as possible," Joho affirmed on Friday.
Kingi chaired the special meeting after which they later toured the affected areas to see the progress made to restore normalcy in water pumping.
"So far, 3 wells have been revived and pumping of water has resumed," said Governor Kingi.
"Kilifi and Mombasa County Governments have pulled resources with Coast Water Services to ensure we accelerate the repairs and restoration of the remaining wells so that pumping at the Baricho Water Plant resumes with immediate effect," he added.
