Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Governor of the Kisumu County Dr. Mathews Owili at his office earlier Monday.
The duo discussed abroad range of possible areas of partnership between the two cities.
"Kisumu just like Mombasa has a great potential in the blue economy and we shall be seeking avenues for harnessing synergies between our counties to derive the best out of our fisheries and water bodies," said Kingi.
With the availability of direct flights to and from the two cities the two said they hoped to open their interiors for trade and tourism.
They also deliberated on the state of devolution in its second tenure.
Kingi indicated the common problem facing devolution across board was insufficient funds.
The two agreed to support the call by the Council of Governors to have the share of the Counties increased to enhance the capacity of the counties to deliver to the people.
