Schools heads have been urged to detect early warnings as one way of protecting schools from getting into troubles.
Addressing the secondary schools heads at Kisii high school during the KESSHA meeting, the county commissioner Chege Mwangi challenged principals to make sure they work upon the early warnings .
“It is worrying that most of the principals cannot detect early warnings in their schools before they happen, there is something wrong if they cannot get such a warning,” said Mwangi.
Therefore, he challenged all schools heads to be more careful and make sure that they work upon the early warnings in their schools by in forming the security agents.
For instance, he gave an example of the fire tragedy at Nyamagwa schools that according to the report they have there was an early threat about the incident hence wondering were was the principals or does it means that they had no idea.
“Before there was El Nino in the country we were given early warnings the same case applies to our schools unless the principal is not vigilant that's when the incidents catch, him off guard," said Mwangi.
“Principals should know how to detect the warnings and work upon them by reporting to us since security are there to protect but not to put off the fire when the schools are burning,” added Mwangi.
He also assured them that he will continue working with them.
