The Kiambu County detective in charge of the arsenal will be arraigned in court on Friday where he will take a guilty plea to the charges of hiring ammunition robbers.
This follows the recovery of a pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition from a shootout between the police and criminals in Nairobi’s Industrial zone.
The senior sergeant at the county’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who will be charged with robbery was arrested Thursday after he disappeared shortly after the gun was retrieved from robbers on January 19.
A day after the recovering of the gun Kiambu County senior detective searched the county’s arsenal where they discovered small steel box with four pistols which they took to use as the exhibit to press charges against the suspect-detective.
A day later two of the pistols went missing while the other two assigned to different officers prior to investigations on the steel box.
According to Kiambu police commander Adiel Nyange who launched a search at the Sergeant’s office together with his DCI counterpart Amos Tebeny.
He added, “60 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, 41 spent cartridges, and a pistol magazine were also found.”
“Some of the ammunition were marked for analysis. All scenes were documented by Crime scene experts,” said a police report. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover? Tell us what is happening by joining this group and have it published.
