The Deutsche Welle (Dw) Academy in conjunction with Kenya Correspondents Association are holding a workshop on freedom of expression and access to information in Nakuru.
The four-day workshop which started on Tuesday is focusing on training journalists on media freedom and access to information.
The journalists drawn from different regions in Nakuru are being taken through the constitution and laws that regulate them and security as a condition of media freedom.
According to KCA chairman Oloo Janak, challenges facing journalists and issues hindering realisation of an effective media will be discussed.
Speaking to participants on Thursday, Janak urged them to rise up to the standards required and also take charge of the profession.
The International Commission of Jurist representative Mirriam Bommet told journalist to report cases of threats and intimidations as the organisation is ready to stand with them.
The workshop ends on Saturday.
