A drive along the busy road from the Mamboleo junction all the way to Kiboswa shopping center reveals several magnificent structures already coming up while huge chunks of land are already fenced either for speculation or intended for development.

Owen Onyango, a resident who has used the highway for years said the works on the road could not have come at a better time.

"For a very long time we had only one fuel station on this road. The rest of the stretch used to be bushes. We are happy it is getting a facelift," he said.

Already a new fuel station is up and running, a business park is near completion and a four-star hotel has already been established.

These new buildings have joined posh homes that have been put up over the years.

Chief Executive Officer of the Nyanza Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ben Kitoto said the new development will go a long way in realising Kisumu's business potential.

"As the business community we are looking forward to the boom! This will be part of Kisumu's expansion," he said.

The Kisumu- Kakamega road is under expansion with the section from Kiboswa into the city expected to be a dual carriage with an over pass at the Mamboleo junction.
