This has made most of the schools' leaderships to become more creative and invent alternative means of transporting goods to and fromthe institutions.

At Muthwani Secondary School of Athi River District, things are no different as donkeys were seen transporting chairs to the school during a parent’s day on Thursday.

The donkeys’ owner, George Kizito, who was guiding the donkeys as they transported chairs told this wirter that most of the schools around gave him business to transport different goods to and from the schools.

Kizito disclosed that most of the schools, which were equally located in very remote areas depended on the animal transport since they have no vehicles.

He added that the schools were not stable enough to frequently afford vehicle transport, given that they were much expensive as compared to the animal transport.

Some of the parents said the donkeys were more reliable, adding that they also hired their services due to high costs of vehicle transport.

They said most of the roads leading to schools in the region were also impassable, limiting vehicle transportation and also making them incredibly expensive.

The parents' representative, Jonathan Kirui, however called on the county government to consider grading the roads to reduce costs of transportation of goods and people in the region.

Kirui also said that both the governments should work closely to provide the schools with school vans or buses to avert the situation make movements of students easier.
