A bleak future hangs in Nakuru County government's development agenda after the county fell short of its revenue collection target by over Sh2 billion.
The County Assembly Budget and Appropriation committee chairman Moses Ndungu said Monday the county had collected Sh3.6 billion for the first six months of the current financial year against its half year target of Sh5.9 billion.
The Elementaita ward MCA further revealed that another Sh350 million was earlier set aside to help resolve the county's perennial debt crisis.
However, he clarified that plans were afoot to increase ward funds allocation by Sh5 million to spur the development agenda in the next financial year as a quick fix against the dwindling fortunes in revenue collection.
Currently, the Nakuru county government has a fixed allocation of Sh25 million for its 55 wards.
