Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has faulted Kiambu Governor William Kabogo of upsetting Deputy President William Ruto through his remarks.
Speaking on June 11 at Kirinyaga's Baricho Boys Secondary School during the school's prize-giving ceremony, the CS pointed out that Kabogo had erred by touching on such an issue that could bring more controversy in the Jubilee coalition.
"The governor blundered when he asked the deputy president to produce a power sharing formula with Mount Kenya (in 2022)," Kiunjuri said.
He asked Kabogo to stop giving Deputy President Ruto conditions because that was unnecessary and detrimental.
He said that the governor’s remarks could effortlessly infuriate the DP who toiled so hard to ensure that the Jubilee government wins the 2013 presidential elections.
Kiunjuri guaranteed Ruto complete support from the region, saying that Mr Kabogo should be disregarded.
"We leaders from the region are united in supporting the deputy president and we do not want anyone to antagonise him," he said.
Kiunjuri's sentiments come after an online backlash that Kabogo received from a section of the Mount Kenya people after his utterances, with some telling him that he was not the spokesperson of the region.
